What is an AEO agency, and which one is best for a US company?
AEO stands for answer engine optimization. An AEO agency, or answer engine optimization agency, gets your brand named and recommended inside AI answers. Its AEO services cover buyer-question research, answer-first content, structured data, third-party mentions and tracking. This guide compares 10 AEO agencies and companies for US buyers, using what each publishes on its own website, checked October 2026.
AEO agency, defined. An AEO agency helps a brand get named, cited and recommended in AI-generated answers. It researches the questions buyers ask AI tools, structures your pages so AI tools can quote them, and tracks how often your brand appears. Many also earn third-party mentions, which some agencies sell as GEO.
The best AEO agency depends on your category, budget and team:
- Discovered Labs: B2B SaaS teams that want published tiers and an in-house AI visibility tracker.
- NoGood: growth teams that want AEO next to paid media and creative, at premium retainers.
- Omniscient Digital: B2B software companies with a larger budget, with full-service engagements from USD 120,000 a year.
- Optimist: B2B tech teams that want AEO and SEO strategy together, with its guide quoting advising from USD 3,000 a month.
- iPullRank: enterprise teams with complex search programs.
- Nakama: SaaS and software brands that need to be named through off-site sources such as Reddit, YouTube, review sites and editorial.
Key takeaways
- AEO work gets your brand named inside AI answers. It starts with your own pages and often extends to the third-party sources AI tools read.
- Five of the 10 agencies show a price figure somewhere: Discovered Labs and Omniscient Digital on their own pages, NoGood (an average across all its services), and Optimist and Minuttia in their own guides.
- Ask every agency for proof you can check yourself: a query you can run and a citation you can see.
- Nobody can guarantee a place in a ChatGPT or Gemini answer. Treat a guarantee as a red flag.
- Google says there are no extra technical requirements and no special schema to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode. Be wary of an "AEO package" that is only markup.

How do the 10 best AEO agencies compare?
The 10 agencies below are compared on best fit, where each says it is based, published price and standout strength, and are listed in the order of the evidence matrix in the next section, which scores all 10 on five checks. Prices and locations come from each agency's own site, October 2026.
| Rank | Agency | Best for | HQ or offices (US presence stated) | Published price | Standout strength |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Discovered Labs | B2B SaaS teams that want published tiers | Not stated on pages we checked | Establish from USD 7,995/mo on a 6-month term (EUR 6,995) | In-house tracker, Reddit and PR work |
| 2 | NoGood | Growth teams wanting AEO plus paid and creative | New York (Soho), Miami, Dubai | Average above USD 20,000/mo across all services | Award-recognized AEO practice, SteelSeries case study |
| 3 | Omniscient Digital | B2B software companies with budget | Five US addresses listed; team is distributed worldwide | Full service from USD 120,000/yr | Named AEO case studies, demand modeling |
| 4 | Minuttia | Established B2B SaaS brands | Not stated on pages we checked | Minimum project USD 4,000+ (its own list, Jan 2026) | Free AEO report, named Meilisearch case study |
| 5 | Optimist | B2B tech teams that want AEO and SEO strategy | Not stated on pages we checked | Advising from USD 3,000/mo, after a Roadmap (its guide, 11 Oct 2026) | Long B2B record, 21-factor audit |
| 6 | First Page Sage | Teams that want to read the research first | SF Bay Area (per contact page title) | Not published | Large library of AI search guides |
| 7 | iPullRank | Enterprise search programs | Not stated (a staff bio mentions a New York office) | Not published | Relevance engineering, AI Search Manual |
| 8 | Nakama | SaaS brands that need to be named via off-site sources | India (no US office stated) | Custom quote | Off-site AEO and GEO with checkable queries |
| 9 | Marcel Digital | Organizations that want AEO inside a full-service team | Chicago, IL | Not published | Schema and on-page AEO, 20+ years in search (self-reported) |
| 10 | Animalz | B2B software brands that want editorial quality | Remote (started in New York) | Not published | Content craft plus Reddit and outreach |

NoGood, Marcel Digital and First Page Sage (Bay Area, per its contact page title) state a US location on the pages we checked. Omniscient Digital lists five US addresses but says its team is distributed around the world. Animalz says it started in New York and now works remotely. iPullRank's about page hints at a New York office in one staff bio. If you need a US-based team, ask each agency where your account team sits.
How did we rank these AEO agencies?
We compared the agencies by what each publishes on its own website, checked on 15 October 2026. The evidence matrix below scores all 10 agencies on five checks. Each check is a Yes, Partial or No you can verify yourself. We did not use review-platform scores, paid directories or invented point scores.
What the five columns mean
- Published price. Yes: a price for the AEO service is shown on the agency's own site. Partial: a price shown only in a guide or FAQ, or one that covers all its services. No: no price found.
- Named case study with an AEO metric. Yes: a named client with an AEO or AI-search result on its own site. Partial: results without a client name, or named placements without metrics. No: none found on the pages we checked.
- Dedicated AEO page. Yes: a page on its own site about AEO or answer engine work. Partial: AEO sits inside a wider page.
- Method described. Yes: it names a framework or process phases and what it measures. Partial: it lists services without a process.
- HQ stated. Yes: an address or named offices. Partial: a hint, such as a page title, a remote note or a mailbox address. No: nothing found.
In the matrix, agencies are ordered by the number of Yes answers in columns 1 and 2, then the number of Partial answers there, then the same counts for columns 3 to 5. Ties are alphabetical. All 10 agencies are ordered this way, and the comparison table and the entries below follow the same order. These are our readings of public pages, so check them yourself.
| Rank | Agency | Published price | Named case study with AEO metric | Dedicated AEO page | Method described | HQ stated |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Discovered Labs | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
| 2 | NoGood | Partial | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 3 | Omniscient Digital | Partial | Yes | Yes | Yes | Partial |
| 4 | Minuttia | Partial | Yes | Yes | Partial | No |
| 5 | Optimist | Partial | Partial | Yes | Yes | No |
| 6 | First Page Sage | No | Partial | Yes | Partial | Partial |
| 7 | iPullRank | No | Partial | Partial | Yes | Partial |
| 8 | Nakama | No | Partial | Partial | Yes | Partial |
| 9 | Marcel Digital | No | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 10 | Animalz | No | No | Yes | Partial | Partial |
Notes on the matrix:
- Omniscient Digital's price is Partial because its AEO page says full-service engagements start at USD 120,000 a year, a figure that covers its whole service menu.
- NoGood, Optimist and Minuttia are Partial on price: NoGood's figure is an average across all services, and the Optimist and Minuttia figures sit in their own guides.
- Discovered Labs' proof is client testimonials with figures, without calendar dates or queries.
- Optimist's AEO results on its AEO page carry no client name, so its proof is Partial.
- First Page Sage and iPullRank are Partial on proof because their AI results have no client name.
- Nakama's price is No because its pricing page shows a custom quote and no figure. Its proof is Partial because its Work page names seven clients and the searches behind each placement but shows no metrics. Its AEO page cell is Partial because AEO is one of six disciplines on its Services page. Its HQ cell is Partial because its footer says "Made in India" with no address.
- Omniscient Digital's HQ cell is Partial because its about page says its team is distributed around the world, and three of its five listed addresses carry mailbox (PMB) numbers.
- iPullRank's HQ cell is Partial because a staff bio on its about page mentions a New York office.
If you are an enterprise team or have a large paid budget, NoGood or iPullRank may fit better. Discovered Labs publishes tiers, and Optimist, Omniscient Digital and Minuttia state a starting price on their own pages or guides.
"Self-reported" means the figure comes from the agency's own site and we could not verify it independently. "Not published" means we did not find it on the pages we checked.
Every entry below includes a limitation.
What is answer engine optimization, and what does an AEO agency do?
Answer engine optimization (AEO) is the work of making your brand easy for AI answer engines to find, trust, quote and recommend. An answer engine replies to a question with a written answer. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode are the main ones. An AEO agency does that work for you.
The shift is measurable. In a Pew Research Center study of 900 US adults' browsing in March 2025, 18% of Google searches produced an AI summary.
On pages with a summary, users clicked a regular result in 8% of visits, against 15% on pages without one. They clicked a link inside the summary in 1% of visits.
Questions often trigger summaries. Sixty percent of searches that began with who, what, when or why produced one, in the same Pew study.
An Ahrefs study of 300,000 keywords estimated that an AI Overview goes with about 58% lower click-through for the top organic result on desktop, comparing December 2025 with December 2023 data. Ahrefs presents this as a correlation.
Two research findings shape good AEO work:
- Evidence raises visibility. The GEO paper by Aggarwal and colleagues (KDD 2024) found that adding citations, quotations and statistics raised visibility in generative engine responses by up to 40% in the authors' benchmark tests. The authors come from Princeton, IIT Delhi and others. Keyword stuffing gave little to no improvement. The authors note that results vary by domain.
- Google adds no special rules. Google Search Central says a page must be indexed and eligible to show with a snippet. It says no extra technical requirements, AI text files or special schema.org markup are needed for AI Overviews or AI Mode. Its guide to generative AI features adds that, from Google's side, optimizing for generative AI search is still SEO.
AEO vs GEO vs SEO: what is the difference?
SEO ranks your pages in classic search results. AEO shapes how your pages answer questions so AI tools can quote them. GEO, a term from a Princeton research paper, covers the wider job of influencing generative engines, including the sources they cite. Optimist, iPullRank and Marcel Digital say AEO and GEO are the same work.
Agencies use the terms in different ways, and we found no standard definition. Google's generative AI guide says that from its perspective, optimizing for generative AI search is still SEO. Search Engine Land's guide says GEO, AEO, LLMO and AIO all mean essentially the same thing, which it calls AI SEO. The table shows the working definitions we use in this guide. Nakama treats AEO as the answer-quality layer and GEO as the source layer. iPullRank's GEO page says the two are "the same thing, just with different names."
| Working definitions used in this guide | SEO | AEO | GEO |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main goal | Rank pages in Google and Bing | Be quoted in AI answers | Be named and recommended in AI answers |
| Where the work happens | Mostly your own site | Your pages first: structure, answer-first content, schema. Many agencies add off-site mentions | Third-party sources AI tools cite, plus your site |
| Core research unit | Keywords | Questions buyers ask | Prompts and the sources cited for them |
| Typical deliverables | Technical fixes, on-page content, backlinks | Question maps, answer-first pages, FAQ structure, citation tracking | Source audits, community and review presence, digital PR |
| Success measure | Rankings and organic traffic | Citations and mentions in AI answers | Mention rate and share of AI answers |
The two overlap, and SEO fundamentals sit under both. For the GEO side, including nine GEO agencies compared the same way, read our guide to the best generative engine optimization agencies.
What do AEO services include?
Most answer engine optimization services combine seven parts: an AI visibility audit, question mapping, answer-first content, technical access and structured data, off-site mentions, entity consistency, and tracking. Agencies differ on how much they cover, and some sell off-site mentions under the GEO label. Ask which of the seven an agency covers.
- AI visibility audit. A baseline of which prompts, engines and competitors show your brand today.
- Question and prompt mapping. The exact questions buyers ask at each stage of a purchase. Our guide on building content around the buyer's next question shows one way to do this.
- Answer-first content. Pages that state the answer in the first lines, use clear headings, and cite evidence. The Princeton study found that adding citations, quotations and statistics helped most. Answer-first structure and clear headings are common practice, but the study did not test them.
- Technical access and structured data. Crawlers allowed, pages indexed, schema that matches visible text. OpenAI says to allow OAI-SearchBot in robots.txt to appear in ChatGPT search results.
- Off-site mentions and citations. Reddit, YouTube, review sites and publications, often sold as GEO. Pew found that Wikipedia, YouTube and Reddit made up 15% of the sources listed in Google AI summaries.
- Entity and brand consistency. The same product facts, category and claims across your site, profiles and listings.
- Tracking and reporting. Mentions, citations, share of voice, AI referral traffic and leads. Our note on what a useful visibility report shows covers the basics.
Which are the 10 best AEO agencies in 2026?
The 10 agencies below are listed in the order shown in the comparison table. Each entry follows the same format: best for, services, strength, pricing, limitation and HQ. Every figure comes from the agency's own site and is marked self-reported where we could not verify it independently.
1. Discovered Labs
Best for: B2B SaaS teams that want published tiers and an in-house tracking tool.
Services: Its AEO agency page lists an AI visibility tracker across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini and content built on its CITABLE framework. It also lists Reddit and community work, digital PR and review sites, and technical readiness checks covering llms.txt, structured data and AI crawler access.
Strength: Published prices and flexible terms. Retainers on its pricing page run month to month with no long-term lock-in and 30 days notice, and a 3 or 6 month commitment lowers the rate. Its one-off Search Visibility Diagnostic is credited to the first retainer month if you sign within 14 days of the walkthrough.
Pricing: Published in euros and US dollars on its pricing page, read on 15 October 2026. The page opened in euros with the 6-month term selected when we read it, and a toggle switches currency. Prices below are per month, listed as monthly term, 3 months and 6 months.
- Establish: USD 9,138, USD 8,567 and USD 7,995 (EUR 7,995, EUR 7,495 and EUR 6,995). Includes up to 20 content units a month and Reddit engagement at 10 mentions a month.
- Compete (marked most chosen): USD 14,853, USD 13,710 and USD 12,567 (EUR 12,995, EUR 11,995 and EUR 10,995). Includes up to 30 content units a month and Reddit engagement at 20 mentions a month.
- Outlier and custom: a custom engagement with a starting price of USD 18,282 a month (EUR 15,995).
- Search Visibility Diagnostic: USD 4,995 one-off (EUR 4,370).
- Add-ons: Reddit Marketing from USD 5,709 a month (EUR 4,995) and Backlink Building from USD 2,852 a month (EUR 2,495).
Limitation: It measures AI visibility with its own tracker, so independent checks are up to you. Its proof on its AEO agency page is client testimonials with figures, such as 7x sales-accepted leads from Gladia's head of marketing, and none comes with a calendar date or the query behind it. It focuses on B2B SaaS.
HQ: Not stated on the pages we checked.
2. NoGood
Best for: Growth teams that want AEO alongside paid media, social and creative.
Services: AEO across four pillars: AI visibility intelligence and strategy, content and owned media optimization, earned media with digital PR and citation building, and technical AEO infrastructure. It covers ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Copilot.
Strength: A named case study with numbers, all self-reported. The SteelSeries case study headline reports a 23x increase in year over year AI search traffic and 27x in year over year conversions from AI platforms. Its results text says AI traffic grew 6.7x from January 2025 to October 2025, with a 7.1x increase in conversions. The page does not explain the gap, so ask which basis applies. Its AEO page lists AEO awards from The Shorty Awards, The Drum and The Webby Awards.
Pricing: Monthly retainers. The FAQ on its homepage says the average retainer across all NoGood services is above USD 20,000 a month. That figure covers paid, social, creative and organic work together, so it applies to all NoGood services.
Limitation: It is priced at the premium end and tracks AI visibility with Goodie AI, a third-party tool. It is a broad growth agency, so AEO is one practice among several.
HQ: New York City (Soho), with offices in Miami and Dubai.
3. Omniscient Digital
Best for: B2B software companies with an organic growth budget.
Services: A dedicated AEO service built on buyer-demand modeling, a visibility baseline, competitor and source intelligence, technical foundations, content and third-party validation, and measurement tied to pipeline. It also runs structured AEO experiments.
Strength: Named case studies. Its AEO page links to Convert (LLM visibility up 81% and AI citations up 140%) and OnBoard (number one AI share of voice). It sits in a wider SEO, digital PR and content team.
Pricing: Its AEO page says full-service engagements start at USD 120,000 a year.
Limitation: The price may put it out of reach for smaller teams. AEO is one service on a broader menu that also covers SEO, programmatic SEO, link building and content, so confirm how much of the budget goes to AEO. It serves B2B software only.
HQ: Five US addresses are listed in the footer of its contact page: Austin, New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Boston. Three of them carry PMB (private mailbox) numbers. Its about page says its team is distributed around the world.
4. Minuttia
Best for: Established B2B SaaS brands that want AEO tied to a content program.
Services: Google and AI search strategy, human and AI-assisted content creation, digital PR, Reddit marketing and agent analytics, per its homepage. It offers a free AEO report that runs your brand through a set of prompts across AI platforms and shows visibility score, share of voice, citations and sentiment.
Strength: Research and retention. It publishes a study of 24,067 prompts across five AI search platforms. Its case studies page names Meilisearch, with a 665% increase in LLM-driven traffic and 2,700% growth in LLM-driven conversions (self-reported). Its homepage reports 94% average client retention (as of June 2026), 24+ months average client tenure and 60+ clients (all self-reported).
Pricing: Not on its AEO agency page. Its own LLMO agency list, with data as of 20 January 2026, states a minimum project size of USD 4,000+.
Limitation: It is built for established brands, so early-stage startups may not fit. Its free report tool currently tracks citations on Perplexity only, per the tool page. The Meilisearch result is the only named AI-search case we found, and its case studies page does not give the query behind it.
HQ: Not stated on the pages we checked.
5. Optimist
Best for: B2B tech and SaaS teams that want AEO and SEO strategy and advice in one engagement.
Services: Its AEO page lists a 21-factor AEO audit it calls the CORE analysis, content strategy and page structure, technical AEO, entity and knowledge graph support, digital PR and citations, and monthly executive AEO reports. Its about page lists four engagement options. They are a free Organic Revenue Opportunity Report, a one-time CORE Roadmap, a monthly CORE Advisory with monthly visibility tracking, and a CORE Principal tier with monthly planning and weekly check-ins. Both Advisory and Principal are available only after a CORE Roadmap.
Strength: A long B2B record and named client results. Its about page says Optimist was founded in 2016 and lists results for HelloSign (organic traffic up 1,300%), Stampli (400% lift in MQLs and conversions) and Glide (14x leads attributed to content). These are SEO and content results, and all are self-reported.
Pricing: Its own guide, dated 11 October 2026, says ongoing AEO advising starts at USD 3,000 a month. The same guide puts audits, strategy and roadmap projects from USD 2,500. Its about page lists the options without prices and says both CORE Advisory and CORE Principal are available only after a CORE Roadmap, so confirm the current price and the entry path. The AEO page says AEO is offered month to month.
Limitation: The AEO results on its AEO page carry no client names: a large B2B tech client (49x LLM revenue and 26x LLM referral traffic), a retail client (13x LLM revenue) and a fintech client (8x conversions from LLMs and 25x LLM referral traffic). Its about page says your team owns execution and that done-for-you production goes to partners, while its AEO page describes hands-on help, so confirm scope. Its guide calls it a smaller team with most experience in B2B technology.
HQ: Not stated on the pages we checked.
6. First Page Sage
Best for: Teams that want to study an agency's research before hiring it.
Services: An AEO service built on six elements: a full AEO audit, authoritative content, technical implementation with structured data, continuous optimization, publicizing awards and usage statistics, and strategic coordination. The team also does list and database outreach.
Strength: A deep library of guides, including ChatGPT, SearchGPT and Perplexity optimization guides and a GEO cost breakdown. Its AEO page says it has more than 15 years of experience in SEO and AEO (self-reported).
Pricing: Not published. Its GEO cost breakdown lists market tiers based on pricing it has seen among the small number of companies offering GEO services. It does not list its own fees.
Limitation: Its AEO page is headlined "The #1 AEO Agency", a self-claim with no client results on that page. Its case studies page shows anonymous AI results, such as AI recommendation share rising from 11% to 64% across 31 queries for an unnamed client (self-reported). The page also names Cadence Design Systems, for an SEO result.
HQ: SF Bay Area, based on its contact page title. No street address was given.
7. iPullRank
Best for: Enterprise brands and category leaders with complex, multi-team search programs.
Services: GEO and AI search programs with startup, mid-market and Fortune 500 paths. Work covers technical structure, content engineering, off-site presence such as press, forums and video, and attribution that ties citations and AI referral traffic to leads and revenue. It tracks metrics such as fan-out coverage and citation frequency.
Strength: Technical depth and published thinking. Mike King founded the agency, and it publishes an AI Search Manual. It says it has delivered USD 5B+ in organic search results (self-reported), per its GEO page.
Pricing: Not published.
Limitation: Its case studies are labeled by industry, such as financial services, eCommerce marketplace and telecommunications, and carry no client name. The telecommunications study reports a 253% increase in AI Overviews visibility (self-reported). It calls its work GEO and treats AEO as the same thing. It is built around enterprise-scale programs, so confirm what the startup path includes.
HQ: No headquarters statement on the pages we checked. A staff bio on its about page mentions a New York office.
8. Nakama
Best for: SaaS and software brands, and brands in competitive categories, that need to be named when buyers ask AI tools what to pick.
Services: AEO work (buyer-question and answer-gap research, answer-first content and FAQ structure, citation tracking) plus GEO, Reddit and community, editorial content, YouTube and video, and digital PR. It tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews and starts with a buyer prompt map and a competitor and source audit. See Nakama's AEO and GEO services and how an engagement runs.
Strength: Off-site work with proof you can run. The Work page lists seven clients with the exact searches where Nakama's work surfaced. In one example, Google's AI Overview cited a Nakama LinkedIn comparison right under a client's recommendation. Every community post is disclosed, and nothing publishes without the client's sign-off.
Pricing: No price is published. Nakama sells one all-inclusive plan with no tiers or add-ons. A written proposal arrives within two business days of a 15-minute pricing call, and the minimum commitment is three months. See how Nakama pricing works.
Limitation: Nakama is a small team and takes a small number of partners at a time. Its Work page shows placements and the searches behind them but no performance metrics. It is based in India, so live calls with US teams need planning around the time difference. Its focus is off-site visibility, so a large site that needs deep technical SEO may need a specialist for that part.
HQ: India.
9. Marcel Digital
Best for: Organizations that want AEO inside a full-service digital team. Its AEO page lists technology, associations, financial services, manufacturing, logistics and telecom as sectors.
Services: Its AEO page lists an AEO readiness assessment, question and topic mapping, answer-first content optimization and schema and structured data (FAQ, HowTo, Organization and others). It also lists technical support and monitoring across AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Copilot. It also offers a free AEO starter kit.
Strength: A clear four-phase engagement timeline and a focus on structure, entities and schema. It says it has more than 20 years of experience in search (self-reported).
Pricing: Not published.
Limitation: Its AEO page shows no AI visibility results from clients. Its work leans toward on-page and schema, so brands that need off-site mentions will want to ask what it does there. It is a broad agency, so AEO sits beside web development, paid media and analytics.
HQ: Chicago, Illinois, per its contact page.
10. Animalz
Best for: B2B software brands that want strong editorial quality in their AEO content.
Services: Its AEO page lists an AEO audit, a roadmap and content re-aligned to answer engine outputs. It also lists new content for critical prompts, outreach to highly cited sources, Reddit participation and reporting on AI visibility and revenue impact.
Strength: Content craft. Animalz started in New York in 2015 as a content marketing agency, per its about page and says the biggest B2B software brands choose it as a content partner (self-reported). Its AEO page says technical changes help but are not required to start.
Pricing: Not published.
Limitation: Its AEO page cites market statistics without naming sources and shows no client AEO results. Content is its core, so deep technical work may need a partner.
HQ: Remote-based global team, per its about page. It started in New York.
How much do AEO services cost?
There is no standard AEO pricing, and many agencies do not publish a price for AEO services. Five of the 10 agencies here show a price figure, Nakama quotes after a call, and the other four show nothing. We did not average the figures because currencies, terms and scopes differ.
None of the 10 publishes an ongoing monthly price below USD 3,000, so a smaller budget means comparing productized providers outside this list.
| Agency | What it publishes | Term |
|---|---|---|
| Discovered Labs | Establish: USD 9,138/mo monthly, USD 8,567 on 3 months, USD 7,995 on 6 months (EUR 7,995, 7,495 and 6,995); Compete: USD 14,853/mo monthly, USD 13,710 on 3 months, USD 12,567 on 6 months (EUR 12,995, 11,995 and 10,995); Outlier and custom: from USD 18,282/mo (EUR 15,995); diagnostic: USD 4,995 one-off (EUR 4,370), credited to the first retainer month if you sign within 14 days of the walkthrough; add-ons: Reddit Marketing from USD 5,709/mo (EUR 4,995), Backlink Building from USD 2,852/mo (EUR 2,495) | Establish and Compete: month to month, 30 days notice, lower rate for 3 or 6 months; Outlier and custom: custom engagement; diagnostic: one-off; add-ons: monthly |
| NoGood | Average retainer above USD 20,000/mo across all its services, per its homepage FAQ | Monthly retainers |
| Omniscient Digital | Full-service engagements from USD 120,000/yr, on its AEO page | Not published |
| Minuttia | Minimum project size USD 4,000+, per its own LLMO list (data as of 20 January 2026). Not on its AEO page | Not published |
| Optimist | Ongoing advising from USD 3,000/mo; audits, strategy and roadmaps from USD 2,500; both per its own guide; its about page says both Advisory and Principal follow a CORE Roadmap | Advising: month to month; audits, strategy and roadmaps: one-time projects |
| Nakama | Custom quote after a 15-minute call, per its pricing page. No tiers | Three-month minimum |
Discovered Labs figures were read from its pricing page on 15 October 2026. The page opened in euros with the 6-month term selected when we read it.
Price follows scope. A program that only edits your own pages costs less than one that also earns mentions on Reddit, YouTube, review sites and publications. Ask each agency how many engines and prompts it tracks, how much content it produces each month, and what the minimum term is.
Do you need an AEO agency, an AEO consultant or AEO software?
An AEO tool tracks where your brand appears in AI answers. An AEO agency does the work that changes those answers: content, technical fixes, off-site mentions and reporting. Many teams need both measurement and execution, so check whether an agency includes tracking and what your own team would still have to run.
- Software fits teams with in-house writers and SEOs that only need measurement.
- An agency fits teams that lack capacity or need mentions earned on third-party sources.
- A consultant fits teams that want advice and plan to run the work themselves.
- Agencies use trackers too. Discovered Labs runs its own, NoGood uses Goodie AI, and Minuttia offers a free report tool.
- Ask to see raw prompts and answers from any tool, so you can check the numbers yourself. Google says third-party tools cannot see its internal ranking data.
This guide ranks agencies only. It does not rank AEO software.
How do you choose an AEO agency?
Pick the agency that can show you AI answers it changed, explain how it measures them, and work on the sources your category depends on. Ask these nine questions on the first call, and write down the answers before you compare prices.
- Which AI engines do you track, and how? Look for named engines and a fixed set of prompts checked on a schedule.
- Can I check your results myself? The best proof is a query you can run today and a citation you can see.
- What is my baseline? A good agency measures where you appear before it starts.
- Which sources do AI tools cite in my category? The answer should name subreddits, review sites, publications or channels.
- How much work is off-site? AI answers often draw on third-party pages, so an agency that only edits your site covers part of the job.
- How do you handle community and review sites? Look for disclosed participation. Undisclosed posts get removed and damage trust.
- Who tracks the numbers? Some agencies use their own tool, and some use a third-party tool. Ask to see raw prompts and answers.
- What does it cost, and what is the minimum term? Get the pricing model and commitment in writing before you compare scopes.
- Where is the team, and who will work on my account? US buyers should ask about time zones, US clients and the people on the call.

Match the agency to your situation. A SaaS brand that is missing from "best tool for" answers fits an off-site specialist. A B2B team with an in-house writer and a small budget may fit an advisory firm with published prices. An enterprise with several business lines may fit a larger program.
What should an AEO agency report each month?
A useful AEO report shows your baseline, the prompts tracked, how often your brand is mentioned or cited, and your share of voice against named competitors. It links to the answers behind every number and connects AI referral traffic and leads to the work done. If a report shows only a score, ask for the answers.
- Mention and citation rate. The share of tracked prompts where your brand is named or your page is cited.
- Share of voice. Your mentions against named competitors for the same prompts.
- Sentiment. How each answer describes your brand.
- AI referral traffic and leads. Visits and enquiries that arrive from AI tools.
- Links to the raw answers. The prompt, the engine, the date and the full response.
- Google's own numbers. The Search Console generative AI performance report shows impressions of your pages in AI Overviews and AI Mode, by page, country and device.
What are the red flags when hiring an AEO agency?
Seven red flags matter most: a guaranteed spot in an AI answer, no baseline, a schema-only package, filler content, undisclosed community posts, reports with no links, and anonymous results. Any one of them means you should ask for proof before you sign. AI outputs vary by user, location and date, so nobody controls them.
- A guaranteed spot in ChatGPT or any AI answer. No agency controls these systems, and Google's hiring guidance says no one can guarantee a top ranking either.
- No baseline measurement. If they cannot show where you appear today, they cannot prove what changed.
- An AEO package that is only schema or an llms.txt file. Google says no special schema or AI text files are needed to appear in its AI features.
- Mass-produced filler content. In the Princeton study, keyword-stuffed content gained little to nothing. Content with quotes, statistics and citations gained most.
- Undisclosed reviews or fake community accounts. These can get removed and damage trust. Reddit's spam policy says spam, defined as repeated or unsolicited actions that harm users or communities, is never allowed.
- Reports with no links. Every claimed placement should come with a URL or a query you can open.
- Results with no client name, date or baseline. Several agencies in this guide lead with anonymous numbers. Ask for the client, the date and the query.
Frequently asked questions about AEO agencies
These eight questions cover those that appeared in Google's People Also Ask boxes for AEO agency searches in October 2026, plus cost and timing questions. Each answer stands on its own, so you can read any one without the rest. For agency detail, use the ranked list and the comparison table above.
What is an AEO agency, and what does AEO stand for?
AEO stands for answer engine optimization. An AEO agency, also called an answer engine optimization agency, helps your brand get named and cited in AI-generated answers from tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. It maps buyer questions, improves how your pages answer them, and tracks how often your brand appears. Many also earn third-party mentions.
What are AEO services?
AEO services, also called answer engine optimization services, usually include an AI visibility audit, question and prompt mapping and answer-first content. They add structured data, technical access for AI crawlers, off-site mentions on sources such as Reddit and review sites, and tracking of mentions, citations and AI referral traffic. Scope and depth differ by agency, so compare the actual deliverables.
Which AEO agencies are considered the best?
It depends on your category and budget. For B2B software, Discovered Labs publishes tiers, Optimist states a starting price in its guide, and Omniscient Digital fits larger budgets. NoGood fits teams that want paid media and creative too, and iPullRank fits enterprise programs. Nakama suits SaaS brands that need off-site mentions. Pick the agency that shows you AI answers it changed.
How much does an AEO agency cost?
Many agencies do not publish prices. Optimist's guide says advising starts at USD 3,000 a month. Discovered Labs starts at USD 7,995 a month on a six month term (EUR 6,995). Omniscient Digital's full-service engagements start at USD 120,000 a year. NoGood's average retainer across all services is above USD 20,000 a month. Nakama quotes after a call.
How is AEO different from GEO and SEO?
SEO ranks your pages in search results. AEO focuses on how your pages answer questions so AI tools can quote them. GEO covers the wider job of influencing generative engines, including the third-party sources they cite. Some agencies, including Optimist, iPullRank and Marcel Digital, use AEO and GEO for the same work, and strong SEO supports both.
Is AEO legit, and does it work?
Evidence is early. A Princeton study found that adding citations, quotations and statistics raised visibility in generative engine responses by up to 40% in the authors' benchmark tests, with results varying by domain. Agencies also publish client results, but most are self-reported. Ask for a query you can run and a baseline before you pay for a program.
How long does AEO take to show results?
Agencies quote different timelines. Optimist's AEO page says early signals within 1 to 2 months and, for some strategies, measurable gains within 1 to 4 months. Its guide says 3 to 4 months. NoGood says organic channels, including AEO, typically take three to six months. Nakama says the first month goes to research and setup.
How do you choose the best AEO agency?
Ask which engines it tracks and how, and whether you can check its results yourself. Ask what your baseline is, which sources AI tools cite in your category and how much work happens off-site. Ask for the price and minimum term. Avoid guarantees, anonymous results and packages that are only schema.
Where does your brand stand in AI answers today?
The right AEO agency shows you, with queries you can run yourself, where your brand appears today and what it will take to get named. Nakama checks a few of your buyers' questions before the call, then gives you a clear next step: an audit, a proposal or a plain "not a fit." Book a 15-minute pricing call.
